What a gem!! Certainly a must visit when in Tampa.

I had an amazing experience thanks to the store owner, Gwen. She was so warm and welcoming and had such a sweet soul.

The book selection is great, I was able to get my hands on copy of out of print feminism is for everybody by bell hooks!

I throughly enjoyed the beautiful hand painted art throughout the store while listening the Erykah Badu emanating from the speakers.

Truly an amazing bookstore! Can’t wait to visit again when I’m back in Tampa.

Buy some fine literature geared towards more thorough understandings of humans: they/them and she/hers highlighted by authors. More seating needed in local area. And have fun finishing these bookshelves with printed books.

The owner of this fine bookstore is our new Tampa Councilwoman Gwen Henderson. What a warm welcome I was given on a Sunday afternoon drive. As I sat on her couch and chatted, lovely customers were busy shopping for books and jewelry. I appreciated the easy disability access and parking too. Great addition to the neighborhood and I will be back.

The Black English bookstore is a "must-visit" experience. Located in a cozy neighborhood in Tampa Heights, the store offers a selection of books from popular fiction, history, and pop culture. Make this your place to explore new books and find great gifts. The colorful and bright atmosphere reflects the owner, who shared many new and different authors to read based on my interests. The store has a wide selection of children's books. Plan an hour or so when visiting. You will be drawn into browsing and relaxing while previewing the great selection of books. This wonderful gem in Tampa reflects the cultural diversity of the city. With a store like this, no wonder Tampa is in the top 10 as one of the best places to live in 2023.

I’m so happy that I stumbled upon this bookstore! It’s black-owned by a mother and daughter who are incredibly welcoming. The books feature black history & culture, authors, and artists. The vibe is very colorful and rich. I can see this bookstore being a prominent staple for the community. Definitely recommend going to check it out!

This bookstore is what so many of us never knew we needed. A place where we can read, find new black authors, embrace culture and awesomeness all at the same time. The owner was an educator I knew from my days in middle school. To see her now and doing what she truly loves, goes to show you Dreams put into action are real! Please come and support as well as enjoy a wonderful piece of Tampa History! The vibe is amazing and the people are welcoming.

This wonderful bookstore features prominently the fantastic writers of our age— lifting up the voices of black artists, celeberties, and historical figures, this beautiful shop will have something for everyone of any age. Not to mention, Ms. Gwendolyn is very knowledgeable about the authors and the stories! Can’t wait to come back. The community is very lucky to have such a store!
