This park has a 2.5 km loop. The path is smooth and clean with no steps, only gentle slopes, making it perfect for elderly dogs. My dog and I really like it here! There are too many weeds by the lake, so I didn’t let my dog play in the water.

Great place to hike, walk dogs, be in nature. My dogs love swimming there. This is a moderate short trail, mostly in the shade under the tree canopy. Short enough to be child friendly, it’s a loop around the lake. There is a short steep section that my elderly parents would turn about at - turning it into an out and back to trail for them. An outhouse is available beside the parking. A garbage is provided for dog waste.

Chemainus Lake Park is a nice little escape into the outdoors just off the Island Highway near Chemainus.

The park features a 2.5km loop trail around the lake that is an off-leash dog zone as well. The lake itself features a very popular fishing zone for locals. At the time of this review the Municipality is in the process of installing a brand new dock.

The trail is nice and wide with pretty much the most of the full 2.5km being compromised of crushed and packed rock. This provides a nice stable surface that would be good for strollers. Along the path there are several spots to take a break with nice benches conveniently located. On the east side of the lake there is also a picnic table.

Chemainus Lake park is the perfect place to get away with the full family for a nice little outing. Perfect for families for young children.

What a nice little gem not too far off the beaten path! On our hike around the lake we were shown the more recent grinder petroglyphs. We also saw traditional cedar tree bark stripping along the way which was fascinating. Nice quiet walk with the dogs!

An easy walk around the lake will take you through fern covered forests and amazing cedars that have been cut down but continued to grow! The story of a young man who drowned in the lake sets a sad tone but one worth reflecting on as you walk though the forest.

Clean park, nice trail with some nice elevation. Takes you 45 minutes to finished the trail walk. A very decent size of car park as well.

Great place for a relatively short walk. Not too many hills and a really well maintained trail.

Very dog friendly... takes about 45 mins to walk around the lake if you're moving briskly.

The pics show some amazing carvings you can see if you veer off the main trail... its a bit of a sketchy walk... but worth it!
