huge selection, and seems to be the only brick-and-mortar retail left space in Chicago for many titles. I found both The Rake and Monocle magazine here.

What else is there to be said? It’s a wonderful new stand with a thorough assortment of publications. The gentleman who’s there is always welcoming and the truffles are fantastic. A beloved relic from a more dignified time.

Before Internet dominance, this newsstand was more rundown, probably because newsstands were common and there wasn't a need to celebrate or preserve them. Thanks to the City of Evanston, this newsstand continues to exist (reduced rent), and it's a very nice, clean space. I don't remember if the original newsstand was in this exact spot, but I used to come here with my dad to get magazines and newspapers from around the world. They still have an amazing collection of quality magazines. It's also open late, which is rare for non-food businesses.
