It’s amazing to find such a great book store is finally opened in the DC. There are not only great books on China in both simplified and traditional Chinese language, but also good collections of books on Asian studies in English. I’ve got a big pile of books and their lovely canvas bag. Definitely will come back many times to show my support.

Had a wonderful afternoon at the JF Bookstore today. Thanks to Prof. Pei for sharing a great talk that provided a lot of amazing insight for readers who care about China. When JF Bookstore was in Shanghai, it was known for selecting and displaying the best books and for providing public spaces that contribute to the community, and I'm glad that it has maintained the same great qualities in the DC as it always has. It's become a solid reason for me to continue staying in DC! Thank you!

Re-opening of the JF Books in Dupont Circle in DC on September 1, 2024, is definitely a significant culture event for Chinese book lovers. The store is conveniently located just cross the street from the DuPont Circle Metro entrance. It has many good books that I really like. The original JF Books in Shanghai was a phenomenal book store that many people loved. I’ll certainly add the book store as my routine.

JF Books is a hidden gem in Washington, D.C., offering a distinctive cultural experience that’s hard to find elsewhere.

Situated in Dupont Circle, the bookstore is beautifully curated with a vast selection of Chinese-language books as well as English titles focused on Asian studies, Chinese history, and works by Asian authors. This collection fills a much-needed niche, bringing a slice of China’s literary landscape to the U.S. capital.

What truly sets JF Books apart is the passion of its owner, Yu Miao, who re-opened this bookstore after his original Jifeng Bookstore in Shanghai was forced to close. His dedication to fostering a space for free expression and cultural dialogue is evident in the bookstore’s inviting atmosphere, where customers are encouraged to explore and engage in meaningful discussions. Yu Miao’s vision isn’t just to serve the Chinese community but also to connect with the broader D.C. community, making it a wonderful hub for those interested in learning about Chinese and Asian culture.

When I was an undergraduate in Shanghai, JF Books accompanied me with my intellectual adventures. Many lectures were held there. Glad to see the rebirth of this lovely bookstore in D.C. Book selections are still of a high standard, mainly composed of books in Chinese and English books focusing on China. Glad to see several seminars by Chinese scholars/intellectuals to be held here soon, and I expect there will be more.

The bookstore has an amazing selection of books, and it hosts speaker salons frequently to discuss current social issues and geopolitical challenges that we're facing.

If you're interested in the social issues, economics, political structure, and discussions around ethnic minority groups in China. This is the place to find something that may interest you or meet inspiring people.

I'm definitely coming back again.
