I was helped by someone who was absolutely fantastic. I told him the ages of my kids (two girls 7 and 4), what they liked to read, but more importantly I told him the types of things I did NOT want my kids to read (princess stuff, etc.). He made a bunch of recommendations, was super knowledgeable about all the books, and did a nice job of steering me towards some more independent books and graphic novels that I had never heard but had themes that I was looking for (adventuristic girls and feminist kittens). My kids absolutely love the books.

I have been to many comics shops around the world but NONE had this variety and volume of comics. They don't revolve around the superhero genre like most do. I've found some quite rare items like Peter Pontiac etc. This store will drain my savings dry 🙂 Thank you for existing!

The best selection of kids comics I have ever seen, the staff knew just what to recommend when shopping for the kids in my family. I highly suggest asking for recommendations for whomever you are shopping for. And I also found out they provide library services to educators all over Ontario who are looking to expand their comic and graphic novel selections for classrooms and libraries. Can't recommend this store enough to anyone with children in their life.

We ( the people of Toronto) are lucky to have Little Island Comics. The fact that a small independent comic book / book store can survive in here, in this day and age is a small miracle. I love taking my kids here. I have found that graphic novels are a great stepping stone on the way to full literacy for my children. Usually, we get them from the library, but sometimes, when it's something special, or a special occasion, I'll let them choose a keeper. They also have a small but good collection of French bande dessinées (graphic novels) and some really interesting special subject books in comic book format (philosophy, medicine, history, etc).

The female that works there does not have a clue or interest in being there. She does not know the price of things and does not have a clue on what's for sale. I asked about a Pokemon bag for my daughter, she said it wasn't for sale, but the owner told me a week later that it is for sale. What saves this place is the huge selection of discounted.comics located upstairs.

Good selection but staff was less than helpful. Ignorant would probably be the right word. I walked in looking for something specific, but the female staff was too busy talking about the graphic design she was working on (at that very moment from what I could tell) and the male staff was talking about how his girlfriend just went through some design process that was on spec and denied. Sad to hear, but also annoying while I stand there expecting one of the two to recognize that a CUSTOMER was there waiting to be talked to. I could have interrupted them, but that would have been just as rude as they were being to me. Nevermind going there again, which is sad as I want to get my 4 year old into comics, but not there.
