Gone are the days when second-hand bookstores were a treasure trove for curious minds. Back then, spending hours at these stores, flipping through countless books while working within the constraints of pocket money, was a ritual for many book lovers. For me, it was the store near Bombay Medical in Buldi that held a special place. I vividly remember the thrill of discovering gems like Kafka and G.A., which I still cherish in my collection. Books priced at just ten rupees were a gateway to a literary world that felt infinite.

Fast forward 30 years, and the landscape of these stores has changed dramatically. Many have closed their shelves, and those that remain are often dominated by racks of academic books, computer programming manuals, and competitive exam guides. Literary works, once the heart of these stores, are now a rare find. It’s disheartening that Dostoevsky, whose works I stumbled upon on my frequent visits, seems to have disappeared from the shelves entirely.

This context made my recent discovery all the more heartwarming: the same bookstore from my youth was long back shifted to this location. Walking through its doors felt like stepping back in time. The store still retains its charm, with towering alleys of books waiting to be explored. While much of the space is now dedicated to contemporary academic material, there’s still room for literary treasures if you’re willing to dig. Spending a couple of hours here brought back fond memories of afternoons spent lost in the pages of timeless classics.

The store's owner is a conservative conversationalist who shares a passion for books and memories. Discussing the changing face of bookstores with him adds a personal touch to the experience, making it not just a visit but a journey back in time.

A very formal and short conversation I had with the man there. Firstly i was happy by seeing very much amazing books in large quantity they don't have the books I wanted. The man selling books there seems like he is completely not interested in selling books very passive behaviour.

Cheater book seller, worst store. I gave him books worth more than 2000Rs. and he gave me only 100Rs. as selling price. Earlier when I had went to ask the selling price of second-hand-books, he said he will give me good percentage of the old book's cost. But when I actually took the books to him, he just gave me 100Rs. I had spent petrol of more than 100Rs. to reach that shop. Better sell your books as 'Raddi', you will get more value, do not go to this shop to sell books.

Just went there to sell my old and new books. The original price of all the books is more than 4k. I thought he will buy it at half but he offered me 300 rupees for the 7 books. The worst book seller I have come across. I wish i could give the reviews in negative.

They dont take old books…even 2/3 years’ old books become outdated for them…obviously most people sell their old books..hardly anyone from medical field is going to sell a new and recently purchased book…hence, this shop is not good to sell old medical books
