If you're into woodworking and live near Fairfax, this is the perfect store for you. The place is huge with everything you could ever need for woodworking. I sometimes come here just to browse what kind of tools I may be missing. Rockler has everything from tiny dowels to thousands-of-dollar heavy equipment. What I usually come here for is to get hardwood and baltic ply.

The hardwood selection here is great and it's reasonably priced. Most of them are S4S or S3S so in the worst case, I can use my table saw to rip the unfinished side. You only pay for what you need so you can have them cut a longer piece and not pay for the reminder! That's amazing. Note that they only cut longer wood to fit in your car. Rockler currently does not offer planing or joining services. The guy over there said they are looking into supporting such services soon but as of today, that's not an option.

Rockler also has wood-turning and other general woodworking classes. There's a small classroom inside the store itself. If you need anything woodworking, Rockler is it!

I’ve been here several times since opening and what makes this place different is the staff. Everyone that works here is friendly, knowledgeable, and always willing to help you find exactly what you’re looking for!

They have everything you need for your projects and will usually give you different options based on quality or price.
It may be a small thing but customer service is still front and center in Rockler and I appreciate that.

I’ve loved Rockler ever since I first stepped into their San Diego location—honestly, it was like finding my happy place. So, when I returned back home to Virginia and heard a Rockler would be opening nearby, I don’t think I’ve ever been more excited about a store. As someone who’s always knee-deep in DIY projects with a growing love for woodworking, this place is a dream.

From the moment you walk in, it feels like a woodworker’s haven. It’s huge, spotless, and the vibe is just so welcoming. I’ve been to other woodworking stores in the area, and unfortunately, I’ve had a few experiences where the staff seemed surprised, maybe even skeptical, that a woman was walking in to shop. But at Rockler, it’s the exact opposite. Everyone is genuinely friendly and eager to help, no questions asked. There’s one employee in particular—his name is Gene, I believe—who’s just the best. Every time I come in, he’s there with a smile, ready to answer my questions or just chat about projects. It’s like talking to an encyclopedia of woodworking, but way more approachable and kind.

I only wish I lived closer so I could visit more often, but when I do make the trip, it’s always worth it. And to top it off, they’re dog-friendly, which is a huge plus for us! We brought our dog Minnie to the grand opening, and the employees were just as excited to meet her as they were to help us. Honestly, a store that welcomes dogs and has such friendly team members you can’t go wrong.

I have zero furniture refinishing experience but wanted to refinish an old chair. I went to Rockler and met with Jeff, who turned out to be an amazing guide for my project! He advised me how to clamp and glue a broken stretcher, and patiently helped me understand every step of the refinishing process. I took the chair into the store a few times when I felt like I was stuck, and Jeff always knew what to do. Thank you, Jeff and Rockler! What a great resource to have in our neighborhood.

The Fairfax Finishing/Refinishing class was great! Fred, our instructor was friendly and very knowledgeable. I had a special refinishing question, and Fred stayed after the class to help me and suggest the materials in the store that I would need. Fred then called me that evening to give me additional information. A first class effort. I will attend additional classes.

Worked with Sarah at the store, and she took 30 minutes to not only show me how to better secure my bowls while turning, but also some tricks to make my pen glue ups more secure. Could not have had a better experience!

Staff is knowledgeable and helpful and the inventory of woodworking tools, lumber, accessories, etc. is quite good. Classes are also very helpful.

Great place, knowledgeable staff. They have good quality tools (small and big), jigs, finishes and nice collection of hardwood lumber i.e. basically anything a typical woodworking project would require.
