My wife and I went in for record store day, an unusually busy day, the line was long but all the patrons were being incredibly patient, kind, and understanding. My wife has a tax card as she is Indigenous, she presented her tax card and the lady working the counter let out and exasperated sigh. I was so disappointed and infuriated by this reaction which comes across as overt, blatant racism. While I recognize it is an extra step at checkout and this cashier was obviously stressed at how busy the store was, no one was rushing her, everyone was patient. I'm disappointed in her reaction and think it should be addressed.

As for the record store, they have an incredible selection.

As a first-time record player buyer, I was excited to purchase a Crosley Suitcase Record Player from Sam’s at the Quinte Mall during the holiday season. It was the last one available—a floor model—and though I was hesitant, the gentleman at the cash assured me it was in great condition and fully functional.

Unfortunately, when I got home, I found it covered in dust and, to my disappointment, missing the needle—arguably the most important component of a record player. Being new to record players, I didn’t even know what kind of needle to buy, leaving me frustrated and unable to use my purchase.

While I appreciated the friendly service and help finding other items I needed, the oversight in promising a “fully functional” player without such a crucial part left me deeply disappointed.

call to ask advice on who to go to,to get advice on some old 45s...don't waste Sam's time...was told VERY bluntly...we are a business we sell new record take them to pawn shop.... sorry Sam's for bothering you. I will be sure not to step foot in, call or even dare to think of ur store again.... wasn't expecting a hour but is a few minutes to much to ask...see ya Sam

I travelled over two hours from Toronto to visit the "last" Sam the Record Man. It's a nice store but I was disappointed by how I was treated. I took my time to look around but I was constantly being watched by the staff, as if I was loitering or stealing. I felt uncomfortable. When I went to check out, the clerk at the counter grumpily told me the staff member who had been watching me would cash me out. She purposely walked up to the counter to cash me out as if she wanted to ensure I hadn't stolen anything. When I left I saw some Sam memorabilia in the window but was too tired and felt unwelcome to return. A disappointing visit after a long journey.

Great selection of records and CDs, great place to go for gifts for music lovers. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Great store, great experience!

Went to SAM The Record Man in Belleville Mall for a dvd a while back. The back of the DVD specifically said it had captions, when I played the DVD it had no captions or set up available. I then assumed it was our DVD player so we checked on another DVD player, did not work… Then just today I decided to give another shot on a different movie. The dvd said nothing about captions, I asked the sales person if she could check if it works. When she checked the instruction screen the screen then said it would work. It is not the DVD player, it is the movie itself. However when I go to Sunrise Records they always have captions working on their movies. I highly recommend going to Sunrise Records if you’re looking for captions on DVD’s. Will not be going back to SAM The Record Man again. Very disappointed considering all movies should be captioned…
